Phillip was just about to make a sandwich when a owl hit the window. Phillip opened the window and took in the owl it was a great horned. The great horned owl hooted and wagged a wing at Phillip, "Who-Who-Who?!" screeched the great horned. "Phillip, and who are you?"Phillip declared "Who?" the great horned replied "You." Phillip stated.

After a minute of silence a barred owl flew in and crashed to the floor Phillip was flabberghasted that a second owl flew into his house! "Who cooks for you?! Who who who whoooo?!" Yelled the Barred owl "My mother?" Phillip answered. The owls then took flight and left Phillip sitting on his couch pondering what just happened.

Hello,

My name is Noah and I'm ten years old. I am homeschooled and I read alot of books.
I think your books are wonderful!
I just finished Happenstance found and I'm starting Dragon Games.
My two favorite characters are Hap and Umber.
I think Hap's instincts are slightly cat-like. Because his eyes look like cats, he is afraid of water, he can leap far and he can see in the dark.

I'm so excited to start Dragon Games and continue the adventure. I look foward to many more books!

Hello Noah!
You are right, Hap does have some things in common with cats. That is a good observation.
In Dragon Games you will learn why Hap is afraid of water. And you will learn the answers to many more of the questions that popped up in Happenstance Found!
I am almost done with the third book, which finishes the series. That will be out in January. I am sure my readers are going to like it, it is a very exciting story!

Today my family went on a picnic at a park and then to a flea market.

No fleas for sale, but I found some really awesome vintage robots and some Pez dispensers. I have a big Pez collection. Someday I'll show you all of mine.

I've made up two islands that are at war the Tina vs Kawa the reason is that the Tina caught Kawa miners stealing from the Tina mine and Kawa started to break very important promises so they declared war they fought for two years until the Tina took a ancient underground tunnel to port Kawa and disguised themselves as port Kawa fisher men then took a boat over to Kawa mine and took another ancient underground tunnel to the cellar of caslte Kawa then went up to throne room and took there emperor hostage they ransomed him back for the end of the war.

I had fun learning about the Great Wall of China and

watching Youtube videos of beautiful China. I just have to visit there someday!!!

We listened to really great music and watched an artist paint some bamboo.

My favorite is the Chinese acrobats and the drumming!

Christmas 2008/Civil War Dunker Church

This is Dunker Church, one of the bloodest battles in the Civil War was fought in the church yard. Sept 17th 1862.

More lives were lost in one day in that battle than any other day in the war.

My Christmas gifts this year;

A new bike!, Civil War Stratego game (really fun), a Civil War book The Last Brother, Civil War action figures, Dunker Church with more action figures a digital camera, a sketch book with pencils, root beer making kit, a jaw harp, Michigan rock collection, back sack from the MI museum, Kung Fu Panda movie, candy, money from grandma and I bought a Spiderman video game with it.

It was a really fun Christmas, decorating cookies with Autumn and Caleb on Christmas eve.

We went to Bedtime Stories movie on Christmas day and had a nice dinner. The best part is just being with my family. I liked that the best! Hope your Christmas was fun ;)

This is a really great story about two Civil War solders that end up helping each other and becoming the best of friends. Patricia Polacco is one of my favorite authors. She was born right here in Lansing. My mom met her at a teacher's conference years ago. She shook her hand, had her sign a book, and they discussed that they were both born at the same hospital. At the end of the Pink and Say book she tells that this story came from her father's family. Say in the story is her great grandfather who shook the hand of President Lincoln. I shook my moms hand, because she shook the hand of the hand of the hand.... who shook the hand of President Lincoln. Cool huh? You have to read the book!

I have had a great summer. Lots of swimming, bike riding and playing with friends.

Also learned a lot about the Civil War, my multiplications up to the 4 x's.

Had lots of fun with The Spiderwick Chronicles and grew a few inches.

My day... Caleb and I went for hair cuts. I got just a trim.

These are two really awesome books I got at the library. Exploratopia is full of cool experiments and explorations for kids. Snowball Launchers, Giant Pumpkins Growers and Other Cool Contraptions by Tom Fox is a book of neat stuff to make. I think it would be so cool to make a snowball launcher with my dad. I just got these today along with Fact, fiction and Folklore in Harry Potter's World by George Beahm and a few other books. I also got a book on CD to listen to at night before bedtime called Vampirates Tides of Terror by Justin Somper. The librarian assured my mom it's not too scary and she said it was kind of funny. I can't wait to dig in!!!

The South wanted to make their own country and keep slavery going.

The North said; NO WAY!

The battle was long and horrible!

So many men and boys died!

The conditions were terrible for the soldiers.

Brothers sometimes fought against their own brothers.

In the end the North won!

The confederates surrendered on April 9, 1865

The slaves were free and

we continued to be one united country.

Civil War Camp

I have spent two days at Civil War Camp. It's been so fun!

We went into the spooky basement of the mansion to see

where they hid the slaves that were on their way to Canada.

We played capture the flag, we made our own flags.

Today some re-enactors came and I was so fascinated with them.

They showed us all of their cool Civil War gear and told us

lots of interesting things. I can hardly wait for tomorrow.

Oh I made lots of new friends too!

5 min. car ride and we are chillin at Hawk Island Splash Park!
It was 90 degrees today, so mom said "lets go!"

All this fun and it's free!!!! There is also a lake, big playground and trails. Mom doesn't let me swim in the lake without my dad. So I just had fun at the splash park. A lot of Fun!!!

I had lots of fun at Hogwarts!!!

This is me in the rose arbor.

Here I am getting ready to go in. They put the

witches hat on our head and it told us which house

we would be in. I was put in Hufflepuff.

We had different classes to attend. My first

class was making magic charms, then Fortune Telling

class, then we played Quidditch. Which was so much fun!

We had lunch and my mom had made me pretzel rod wands.

(chocolate cover pretzel rods with ghost sprinkles.)

Then we went to potions class with Professor Snapes and then Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Here's the Hogwarts drinking fountain but....you should be careful with what come out of there! We finish of the day with the house cup ceremony.

Then we had some butter beer! Yummy!!!!! (cream soda)

Celebrating the Summer Solstice

We headed downtown to the Pow Wow because

mom wanted some sage to burn tonight at our celebration.

These street corner mimes were very interesting to me.

They did some strange things!

There weren't any dancers today.

Tomorrow and Sunday there will be.

All of the vendors were open and it's not crowded.

Mom bought her sage and a smudging bowl.

Dad got a new walking stick and I got a wood box with a

snake that pops out and scares you!!!!

Sparklers... I'm not afraid of them anymore!

We toasted to summer, ate pie, caught fireflies and talked.

Dad and I chose cherry pie but mom can't have any. She had a glass of wine. We had fun until mom made us go in because the bats started flying over our heads! That's summer for you!

No Muggles Allowed! Hogwarts Summer School

Monday is Hogwarts School of Wizardry at

the Dodge Turner Mansion. I'm so excited!

I get to go to a really old spooky mansion

(149 years old ) and attend Harry Potter Camp.

My friend Avery is also going. We love Harry Potter.

We are going to attend classes just like Harry,

Ron and Hermione does. We are also going to

play a Quidditch Tournament. We get to dress

up, I'm wear my black robe, taking my journal

and my mom made me a wand out of a

pussy willow branch. I'll post pictures from camp.

Also this weekend is the Riverbank Traditional Pow Wow

I LOVE going to the Pow Wow, my dad is working there this year.

Then the following week is Civil War camp at the mansion!

That is a week long day camp, I can't wait!

I'm going to be busy and having a blast!!!!

My Best Friend Larkin

This is my dog Larkin. I've had him since I

was a baby. We got him from the animal shelter.

We had him for eight years and he was eleven

years old when he died last September.

We were best friends, he was my #1 best friend.

He used to bug me for bones all the time. But

I kind of miss that. He always protected me.

If I was sword playing with my friends,

Larkin would get in the middle and push me away.

He could spell! Do you want a B-O-N-E?

He would get all excited and run to the cupboard.

He always knew when we were getting ready

for a walk. He loved to go for walks!

He didn't like thunder or fire works.

He really didn't wear glasses! He liked to go

for rides in the van.

He really loved kittens and always wanted

to be near them. Bella and Boo loved Larkin

and he loved them.

He is a good soul, and I know he is still with me.

Four really cool fossils called devil's toenails.

Mom and I looked them up on the Internet.

I'm going to do some studing on fossils.

Meet Bob,...our family rescued Bob from the

streets. His owner moved away and left him.

We took him in, took him to the vet and found

him a good home with Kevin, my sister's boyfriend.

He's a sweet kitty!

Rescued Cat
Once I was a lonely cat, just looking for a home.

I had no place to go, no one to call my own.

I wandered up and down the streets, in rain in heat and snow.

I ate what ever I could find, I was always on the go.

My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain.

And no one stopped to give a pat, or gently say my name.

I never saw a loving glance, I was always on the run.

For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.

Then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet,

And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.

"No one again will hurt you,"was whispered in my ear.

"You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear."

"You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat,"

"and rest assured that when you sleep,

your dreams will all be sweet."I was afraid I must admit,

I've lived so long in fear. I can't remember when I let a human come so near.

And as she tended to my wounds,

and bathed and brushed my fur.

She told me about the rescue group

and what it meant to her.

She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends."

I used to have two goldfish, but my mom
accidentally killed them.

So my mom made me a dinosaur terrarium.

It looks cool with the light on! We put in my

crystals that I bought when we visited my

Aunt Debi.

We found the plants and the moss in our yard.
I call it Dinotopia. ROAR!

Skel and the hunt for the fire breathing kitten!

The king has hired Skel to hunt down and capture the dreaded fire breathing kitten.

Aaaaah! The kittens storms the ship, making the ship tip over and everyone is in danger!
The kitten finds Skel and they battle it out! The kitten runs away to an island cave.
The ferocious feline is in hiding and waiting for Skel.
" Gottcha!" the kitten hisses..... Skel luckily breaks free of the furry clawed menace.

So he could rest until he found the King and

The Island was dangerous!
The kitten still waits patiently in his cave.
The King is found and Skel says, "I need a break!"
